Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a skin renewal treatment that can be tailored to each individual’s needs based on skin condition, skin type and cosmetic goals. There are many different formulas including beta-hydroxy acid, alpha-hydroxy acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and more.

When to Consider a Chemical Peel

A chemical peel can treat a wide variety of unwanted skin conditions. Common indications include:

    Glycolic Peel

    Glycolic acid peels gently exfoliate the skin to expose healthier skin beneath. This peel is ideal for skin that is acne prone and may also help with hyperpigmentation while improving the overall texture of the skin.

    Vitalize Peel

    The SkinMedica Vitalize peel assists in reducing the effects of time and sun damage. This peel is ideal for mature skin. Using a unique formulation of mild acids, this peel provides a complete, consistent and safe peel with little or no down time. After just one treatment you will notice improvement in your skin's texture and tone, resulting in a youthful glow. For dramatic results, a series of 4 – 6 treatments is generally recommended.

    Illuminize Peel

    This gentle peel uses a newer generation of alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin with no peeling or irritation. Results are cumulative and benefits are seen with a series of 6 treatments performed bi-monthly.

    The Treatment: What to Expect During a Chemical Peel

    Most light chemical peel scan be completed in 20 minutes. First, your face is thoroughly cleansed. The peel formula is then applied to the skin on your face, neck or chest. You may feel a stinging sensation upon application. The peel is allowed to penetrate for a specified period of time before treatment is finished. For best results, the doctor may recommend a series of chemical peels.

    After Your Chemical Peel

    As the fresh skin emerges, you may notice some flaking or dryness on the treated areas. Follow all post treatment instructions for best results. You should avoid sun exposure and use sun protection when outside at all times.
