Fraxel

Fraxel-issaquah-bellevueA unique and proven approach to skin repair

Fraxel laser treatment improves your appearance by applying columns of laser energy, affecting only a fraction of your skin at a time with thousands of microscopic laser spots.

Is Fraxel Treatment Right for You?

Fraxel is ideal for patients who are bothered by conditions such as:

  • Fine lines around eyes
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Brown spots, age spots
  • Sun damage / Photodamage
  • Acne scarring and other scars

After a single treatment, patients will begin to feel a difference in their skin, which becomes gradually softer, smoother and fresher. Fine lines around the eyes will noticeably fade as will uneven coloring and brown spots caused by aging and sun exposure. Fraxel Laser treatment is now recognized as the most effective treatment for persistent blotch pigmentation of the facial skin known as Melasma.

What to Expect During a Fraxel Treatment in Issaquah

During laser treatment, the doctor makes several passes across the skin, applying the laser energy in an even pattern. Fraxel can be applied to the face, neck, chest and extremities.

Normally 3-4 treatments are recommended at 2-3 week intervals for optimal results. A noticeable difference in skin texture is noted with each treatment.

After Your Fraxel Laser Treatment

Fraxel is a proven and safe approach that offers no down time. The skin will have a pinkish tone for 5–7 days after treatment. Swelling is minimal and generally resolves in two to three days. Make-up may be applied within hours of treatment.

What are the benefits of Fraxel treatment?

  • Smoother, fresher looking skin
  • Improved tone and texture
  • Reduced wrinkles around the eyes
  • Improved appearance of acne scars and surgical scars

What side-effects can I expect after treatment and how long will they last?

You will have some degree of redness and swelling. The intensity and duration depends on how aggressive the treatment was and your particular healing characteristics.  Other temporary side-effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and a bronzed skin appearance. You will be given specific instructions about what to expect for your particular treatment and how to minimize the side-effects.

What precautions should I take after treatment?

Wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure while you’re healing for at least 3 months after your last treatment. Further protect yourself by wearing wide-brimmed hats if you expect to be out in sun.

Does Fraxel treatment hurt?

Topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure and cold air is used on the treatment area during the procedure to minimize discomfort. After the treatment, most patients report a feeling similar to having too much sun. It usually disappears after 1 to 3 hours. Ask Dr. Michalak today for more details about the benefits Fraxel treatment can deliver for you.
