Liposculpture Breast Reduction
Cosmetic Surgery to Reduce the Breast Size
Seattle cosmetic surgeon Dr. Victor Michalak offers an exciting alternative to traditional breast reduction surgery in his Seattle practice—liposculpture breast reduction, also known as tumescent liposuction reduction mammoplasty. Breast reduction is a procedure women consider when the size of the breasts create physical discomfort or an appearance that is not desirable for the individual.

When to Consider Breast Reduction
Overly large breasts can result in a variety of physical (and sometimes psychosocial) problems for the patient. Before breast reduction, patients commonly report symptoms such as:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Skin infection
- Grooving from bra strap
In addition to alleviating health issues, a breast reduction can also create a more proportional silhouette and reduce the size and shape of the nipple and areola.
Using the small microcannulas, the breast size can be reduced with benefits similar to that of other body tumescent liposculpture areas. For the appropriate patient, up to 50% reduction of the breast size is possible by this breast reduction technique utilizing the tumescent technique of liposculpture.
Minimize Discomfort, Minimize Scars
Unlike conventional breast reduction surgery which involves the cutting out of breast tissue with resultant scars typically running around the nipple and down the breasts and extending horizontally below the breasts, the new technique involves the use of tiny straw-like instruments (Microcannulas) which are used to suction out the fat through tiny incisions. Recovery with the older procedure is prolonged and frequently the scars are disfiguring and can remain permanently spread and reddened.
By contrast, breast reduction with tumescent liposculpture results in a reduced breast size with minimal, almost invisible scars, and the recovery period is much more comfortable and shorter. Additionally, the new technique does not require the use of general anesthesia and can be painlessly performed with local anesthesia.
