Fraxel™ Facial

WHAT IS FRAXEL FACIAL?

Fraxel Facial is an alternative to Fraxel Laser for individuals looking for more skin rejuvenation than a chemical peel but do not need a full Fraxel treatment. Think of it as a laser facial.  Traditional Fraxel is a non-invasive, non-surgical laser to treat the signs of aging. All of these treatments  help reduce pigment, improves sun damaged skin, creating smoother more radiant skin. Fraxel Facial uses lower energy settings then combines two fast acting topical ingredients. This further stimulates collagen and introduce antioxidant’s deeper into the skin for additional rejuvenation.

FORTIFIED FRAXEL FACIAL

This is a step up from Fraxel Facial using Fraxel Dual’s two wavelengths. Fortified Fraxel Facial targets superficial treatment of pigmentation,  sun damage, and  stimulates collagen, improving fine lines and wrinkles.  Fortified Fraxel works deeper in the skin and is appropriate for patients who want to work on texture, mild pigmentation and need additional collagen stimulation. Both of these treatments were created by Dr. Michalak to customize more specific treatment plans for different ages and skin conditions.

FRAXEL FACIAL WITH GROWTH FACTORS

Introduced to the office in January 2022, this is a new, even more powerful Fraxel Facial and Fortified Fraxel treatment with added topical growth factors. This is a proprietary formula that includes regenerative stem cell factors and other matrix proteins essential to wound healing adding additional benefits. Both treatments combine a total of three topical serums that stimulate collagen, infuse antioxidants, Vitamin C, and stem cell factors. What this means for your skin is an improvement in discoloration, uneven skin tone, and enhanced wound healing. You can also find this option with the new enhance microneedling with growth factor.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TREATMENTS?

  • Fraxel Facial treats the upper layers of skin helping to improve the tone, texture and diminish superficial pigmentation. Uses one wavelength.
  • Fortified Fraxel Facial uses two wavelengths. The deeper penetration stimulates collagen in addition to improving the tone and texture of the skin. Both treatments are finished with Dr. Michalak’s proprietary blend of topical ingredients adding vitamins that stimulate collagen and provide antioxidant protection.
  • The newest treatment with growth factor

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR FRAXEL FACIAL?

Both treatments are for those looking for more improvement than a peel can provide. Most anyone is a candidate but ideal candidates:

  • Need some correction of pigmentation.
  • Special occasion but need less downtime.
  • Had other treatments and looking for an maintenance options.
  • Likes peels but wants more.
  • Younger and just starting to see sun damage.
  • Unsure about laser and wants to “try” it.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO HAVE THE TREATMENT?

Patients are made comfortable with a topical numbing agent applied one-hour prior. For patients having the Fraxel Facial you can numb at home with a mild topical crème we offer in the office. Fortified Fraxel is a stronger treatment so we use a stronger numbing agent applied in the office. A gel is then applied during the treatment. The laser has a comfortable handpiece that emits short bursts of energy having a heat sensation. This is not a painful treatment but some areas like the upper lip can be more sensitive. The treatment lasts 30 to 60 minutes.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Your skin will be pink and look like you had a mild sunburn. Some patients experience mild swelling temporarily. The topical agents can create some dryness and very mild peeling a few days afterwards. Expect the entire process to last about 7 days although it will vary between individuals. You will want to avoid sun exposure and use sun protection afterwards. These treatments have more social downtime so it’s wise not to plan special occasions a few days after and allow the full week to see glowing skin.

WHAT FRAXEL IS RIGHT FOR ME?

With options to choose from this can get confusing. The first step is to have a consultation. This will help expose your goals so we can recommend the right treatment for you. Most anyone can have any one of these and be enjoy the benefit. Your level of sun damage, if you have acne scarring and overall skin health will determine what type of Fraxel treatment is best for you.
